Overview
Central York Fire Services (CYFS) serves Newmarket and Aurora, just north of Toronto, Ontario. With 160 paid staff and five stations covering 15 square miles, they handle 5,500+ calls annually—20% fire-related.
Challenge
CYFS wasn’t fixing a problem—they were planning for the future. When replacing an aging engine, the department saw an opportunity to improve speed, safety, and simplicity with new technology. Known for embracing innovation, CYFS chose SAM. Once in service, it streamlined four pump steps into one, boosting efficiency while keeping firefighters in full control.
Solution
SAM was adopted to automate repetitive pump functions, reduce pump panel complexity, and boost safety. What once took four manual steps now requires just one, letting firefighters concentrate on strategy and scene management instead of panel mechanics.
I’m not a tech guy—but with SAM, what used to take four steps now takes one. It makes operations faster, safer, and lets our firefighters focus on the fireground, not the pump panel.

Results
Faster Setup
Water supply secured more quickly than with traditional trucks .
Self Diagnostics
Actionable data-led alerts and automation keep crews focused on life-threatening hazards, not pump panels.
Simplified Operations
Fewer steps reduce the chance of error.
These gains support quicker response times and more confident crews, even under pressure.
